Tamko Roofing Shingles are a common option for residential roofs

There are many advantages to using Tamko Roofing Shingles for residential roofs. The manufacturer has been in business for more than 70 years, and they offer warranties for up to 50 years. They are also known for their durability. They are affordable and hold up well under harsh conditions. They are also available with a limited lifetime warranty. Read on to learn more about the advantages of Tamko Roofing Shingles for residential roofs.

They are laminated asphalt shingles

Although the company produces laminated asphalt shingles, some consumers aren’t convinced by the quality of these products. Consumers have reported premature cracking, curling, delamination, and other defects with Tamko Roofing Shingles, primarily those in the Heritage Series. Moreover, the manufacturer does not offer any guarantees about the durability of their products. Consumers may opt for a lawsuit to recover their costs.

They are designed to resist wind

When considering a new roof, consider whether it will be protected by Tamko Roofing Shingles. These shingles are specifically designed to resist wind and are tested to meet the rigorous standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). According to ASTM, “wind resistance of asphalt shingles is determined by a test that involves fan-induced air and lasts for at least two hours.” To determine the strength of the shingle, the manufacturer uses ASTM D7158, which is a standard wind-resistance test method.

They are vulnerable to deterioration

Several complaints regarding Tamko Roofing Shingles have been filed against the company. These homeowners have claimed that Tamko shingles have failed to meet their specifications and that they are unable to replace them with similar-looking products. Consumer product complaints allege that Tamko’s shingles have design and manufacturing flaws that cause them to curl, blister, and degranulate. In addition, Tamko Roofing Shingles are prone to general deterioration.

They are not covered by a limited warranty

The limited warranty provided by TAMKO is not transferable. You, as the subsequent owner, are responsible for negotiating the purchase price of your home, and you cannot expect the company to make adjustments to the price based on your roof’s condition. This means you should do your due diligence and make sure your shingles have a good warranty. You can find out more about the warranty on your TAMKO bundle of shingles.

They are discontinued

Regardless of the warranty period, Tamko Roofing Shingles are not transferable. However, subsequent owners of the home can inspect and negotiate the price of the home based on their inspection of the roof. The warranty period is 10 years after the date of production, known as the Full Start Period. If you have purchased a home with TAMKO shingles, you are eligible for a limited lifetime warranty.

They are not covered by a class action lawsuit

In a lawsuit filed against TAMKO, consumers seek compensatory and punitive damages, as well as injunctive relief, attorney’s fees, and other damages. They argue that the company was negligent or willfully failed to provide adequate protection to protect their property. The Court found that this type of claim lacks standing. Tamko disputes this conclusion.

  1. I would like to join suit. Roof was redone 6 years ago with Tamko Heritage. Lost several shingles with every windstorm and curling delaminating and tar ever where. Looks terrible. Pls advise how we can joint the law suit. I reached out to Tamko for a warranty claim and got no where.

  2. I have Tamko roofing shingles. 30 year roof that had problems at 3 years and repairs again at 20 years. Roofer stated this is defective shingles. Now I can’t match the defective areas. Paid $8000
To I stall several buckled and wore out

I want to join class action lawsuit.

  3. I, too, have been plagued with multiple problems from Tamko shingles installed 2006. We have had multiple leaks costing thousands of dollars to repair and causing our homeowners insurance to drop us. We finally just replaced the roof ($26k out of pocket) October 2022. I would like any information on joining a lawsuit vs Tamko.

  4. I have an issue with our Tanko shingles installed on new home 2013. Over the last couple years these shingles are all over my yard. Everywhere but the roof. I had the roof looked and was told the roof needs to be replaced that the shingles are literally crumpling. I need information on the lawsuit.

  5. I am also having problems with Tamco Heritage shingles. The roof was installed on my manufactured home in 2016. 2 years ago I had a leak. I had 3 different roofer’s tell me my roof was defective. I thought the granular in my rain gutters was a normal thing. I contacted Tamco. Had all the problems documented by my roofer. They gave me 2 warranty vouchers that would cover about half the price to replace it. We had a tremendous about of rain this year, I started to get things going in May. My voucher gave me a year to complete the work. They gave me the run around trying to find a distributor in California, which after 2 months found out there was none. I was finally pointed to a distributor in Arizona. He told me the estimate was for Arizona and California was a lot more expensive. They upped the price for the material but have refused to up the price for the labor. They told me it wasn’t there fault I could not find someone to do it cheaper. I can get the money for the shingles from them, but the labor has to be completed to get paid.
My Tamco Heritage 30 year roof was 5 years old when this began, now 7 years. I am so frustrated by the company’s lack of customer service. Do I have any legal recourse?
    Please advise.

  6. I am faced with a Tamko shingle failure as well. Can I get information about joining this lawsuit?
