  4. I am a 67 year old senior recently on Social security after being on physical disability since 2015. I bought a solar system in July. Smart Green Solar LLC, Providence, RI. I was told my roof had 10 years left. They took pre-construction pictures in my attic which showed mold but did not tell me about that. They told me that it was a private bank, and the collateral would be the system so I would not have it on my credit report in case I needed to take a car loan or something that would go against my debt-to-income ratio. Once installed my roof leaked, they came and inspected the roof and said it was pre-existing bad roof. They could do nothing about it. I don’t have the money to put on a new roof $15,000. I feel they should have told me about the roof prior to installing the new solar system. I’m stuck paying for a solar system that does not produce what they said it would. They offered me two new panels to help increase the energy produced. I’ve refused to let them install it. My only recourse is to pay an attorney a $5,000 retainer and $350-$400/hr. I have had two letters thru the BBB of RI with them refusing to take any blame.
    On March 23rd I called for assistance with solar app and ask why I had seen no rebate on my bills and no checks from the Electric company. They did not return my call. I called again 3/31 and a man named David said my system is working properly and that they have no contact with the electric company and that there was nothing they can do. I need an attorney to take on this case. I will sign off on all proceeds won against this company after my roof replacement is paid for and I have received my electricity produced.
